Risas, sol, colores infinitos, sal, calor, salir a nadar nada mas levantarte, ir a bailar, navegar, arena caliente, reencontrarte con viejos amigos, hacer nuevos amigos, dormir hasta que no puedas mas, mar, lluvia, nadar con tortugas, fiestas dentro del agua, fiestas fuera del agua, vivir en un barco, piel crujiente y bronceada por primera vez en no se cuantos años, simplificar la vida al máximo, vivir con dos camisetas y dos bikinis, mirar las estrellas, nubes, no recordar la ultima vez que me puse zapatos, hacer planes, emocionarme, reírme, reírme a todas horas, sentir, abrazos, tomar perspectiva, ilusionarme, sentirme ligera, sentirme afortunada... seguiremos informando =)
Laughs, sun, infinite colors, salt, warmth, going swimming first thing in the morning, going dancing, going sailing, hot sand, meeting with old friend, meeting new friends, sleeping until you cannot sleep anymore, sea, rain, swimming with turtles, parties in the water, parties out of the water, living on a boat, tan skin since I cannot remember when, simplifying life, living with two t-shirts and two bikinis, looking at the stars, clouds, not remembering last time I used shoes, making plans, get emotional, laugh, laughing all the time, feeling, hugs, getting some perspective of things, get excited, feeling light, feeling fortunate... stay tuned, I will keep the updates =)
y ahí vamos, con sensación de vértigo infinito en el estomago, viendo como se aceleran las cosas, tomando decisiones y preparándome para lo que viene, mucho y muy bueno. Empezaré diciendo que en las próximas dos semanas desmantelo mi casa, hago maletas y me voy de vacaciones una buena temporada, incluida vistaza a la terreta, whooohooo!
Con un poco de suerte, puedo ir contando mis aventuras mas a menudo. No os despistéis, prometo buenas fotos y alguna que otra historieta!

and here we go, vertigo in my stomach, feeling things accelerating around me, making decisions and getting ready for what is coming. Lots of things and very good things. I will start saying that during the next two weeks I will be packing my house and going on holiday for a long time, including a visit home, whooohooo!!!
With a bit of luck I can update this place more often. Stay tuned, I promise good photos and a few stories.

Profundidad: 4848.3 m
En estas latitudes la profundidad del mar alcanza los 5000m. Normalmente, en el océano, la profundad se mide en unidades de presión. La presión en un punto determinado depende de la masa de agua que se encuentra por encima de ese punto. Por ejemplo, si estamos a 5000 metros de profundidad, la presión sera la ejercida por los 5 km de agua que están por encima de nosotros!! Para demostrar que es lo que sucede a esas presiones hemos hecho un mini experimento. En uno de los puntos donde tenemos que lanzar uno de nuestros equipos hemos decidido sumergir unos cuantos vasos de porexpan. Que creéis que sucederá? La solución en la foto =)
Algunas vez habéis pensado que el mar podría tener tanta profundidad? Como creéis que son las condiciones a esas presiones? Vivirá algo allá abajo? Que pensáis?

In these latitudes the depth of the sea reaches 500o m. Normally, in the ocean, we measure depth with pressure units. The pressure on a point depends on the mass of water above that point. For example, if we are at 5000 m depth, pressure will be given by the 5km of water above us!!! To show what is the effect of pressure we have done a mini experiment. In one of the locations where we have to deploy our equipment, we have attached a few foam cups. What do you think it will happen to them? The answer on the picture =) Have you ever thought about those depths in the ocean? How do you think the conditions will be at those pressures? Do you think anything could live there? What do you think?

Los ADPCs están listos para echarlos al agua! Estos equipos permanecerán en el agua durante todo un año, grabando datos de velocidad y dirección de las corrientes. Se colocan en un cable que esta anclado al fondo de mar junto a otros instrumentos que recogerán datos de temperatura y salinidad. Habéis visto algo parecido alguna vez?
The ADCPs are ready to go! This guys will be deployed for a whole year recording measurements of current velocities and direction. There will be standing on a wire anchored to the bottom of the Ocean with a few other instruments that will be recording Ocean variables such as temperature and salinity. How cool is that? Have you ever seen anything like it?
Y bien, por aclamación popular y después de un (demasiado largo) periodo de silencio, os cuento mis próximas aventuras (si, ya se que aun tengo que contar las pasadas aventuras, pero todo a su tiempo...). Me embarco de nuevo, a finales de Marzo, oh si, de vuelta al Sur. Volvemos al Océano Sur, a las olas enormes, a los cielos infinitos, a las miles tonalidades de azules impecables, a los 40 Rugientes, al mar de los mayores. Pero esta vez hay una "pequenya" diferencia con las ultimas dos veces que me embarqué. Esta vez voy a cargo del proyecto, esta vez dirijo la campanya, esta vez las preguntas vendrán dirigidas a mi, seré yo quien suba al puente a hablar con el Capitán cuando las olas se hagan indominables, seré yo la que suba compulsivamente al puente a mirar el barómetro especulando que nos deparara Tangaroa. Pero no tengáis miedo, conmigo viene un equipo fantástico y juntos haremos que la campanya sea todo un éxito. Os seguiré contando, alguna curiosidad especial?

Ok, after popular demanding and a (too long) period of silence, I will start telling you my next adventures (I know, I know, I still have to tell you the past ones...) I'm going to sea, at the end of March, oh yes, going back to the South. We are back to the SOuthern Ocean, to the big waves, to the never ending skies, to the million different blues, to the Roaring Forties , to the "big guys" Ocean . But this time there is a "little" difference fromt he other two time I went to sea. This time I am the voyage leader, this time the questions will come to me. This time will be me who will go to the bridge to talk to the Captain when the waves become indomitable. It will be me who goes to the bridge and compulsively look to the barometer to see what Tangaroa is providing. But don't be scared, there is a fantastic team coming with me, and together will make a very successful voyage. I will tell you more about it, any question you might what to know?

El fin de semana pasado nos fuimos a Tauranga a participar en una travesía a nado. 2.6 kilómetros entres islas. Genial!! Toda una experiencia en mi primera carrera natatoria =D Como siempre un poco de cosica cuando no se ve el fondo, y otro poco de cosica cuando pasas entre las islas y de repente el fondo de algas esta demasiado cerca... Mas aventuras natatorias en camino...

Last weekend we went to Tauranga for a swim. 2.6k between islands. Fantastic swim!! A great experience in my first swimming race =D As usual, I freaked out a bit when I could not see the bottom and a bit more when I could see the seaweed too close... More swimming adventures coming, stay tuned...
